Mrs Karen Mendoza
Governor role – Non-Teaching Staff Governor
About me – I am a married mum of 2, Nathan (18) and Katie (15). I have worked as a Teaching Assistant/Learning Support at Saltney Ferry CP for 9 years now, in all the infant classes - Nursery to Year 2. Prior to that, I was a Childminder for 5 years, caring for children aged between 3 months and 12 years old.
I enjoy walking, especially taking our dog Harry out into the countryside. I also like to travel and experience different cultures whenever possible.
Statement - Having only just joined the Governors, I am looking forward to contributing my knowledge and skills gained in the classroom environment. I hope to be able to be a voice for the staff to share their ideas and opinions, which will help to support the schools continuing development.
Mrs Margaret Thompson
Governor role – Member of School and Curriculum committee
About me – I am married to Philip, a Geoscientist, and have two grown up sons. I am also a granny and have two beautiful granddaughters. In my spare time I enjoy reading, walking and going to the theatre. I have worked at Saltney Ferry since 1998. During this time, I have taught in a variety of classes, ranging from Year 3/4 to Nursery. I am also the ALNCo, responsible for co-ordinating additional needs provision throughout the school. I have always had an interest in additional needs and my expertise in this area has enabled me to raise awareness of Special Educational Needs at governors’ meetings.
Statement - As a teacher governor I am committed to contributing to improving the schools’ capacity to provide an inclusive and rounded education for all children and to strengthen the schools’ reputation in the wider community. During my term of office, I have been involved in decision making to support the school to move forward.
