Meet the Governors

Welcome to our Governors’ section

Welcome to the governor information section and to the Saltney Ferry C.P School website!

We hope that you find this section useful and we aim to keep you up to date on the processes that governors are involved with in order to support pupils and staff in creating a fantastic learning environment that allows all pupils to achieve success.

The governors of Saltney Ferry C.P School are committed to continual improvement and work closely with staff to develop the school for the benefit of our pupils and the wider community. We pride ourselves on being an inclusive school and have facilities that allow children with a diverse range of needs to have a happy, supported education.

Pupil wellbeing is at the heart of our decision making and we are proud to have a happy school, where our pupils enjoy coming to school each day and have fun whilst learning. We also aim to provide our pupils with sufficient challenge to support them to reach their potential, we are a school with ambition and we encourage our children to be ambitious too. The use of Growth Mindset throughout the school is helping to embed this ethos.

There are many exciting initiatives taking place in the school each day that allow for our pupils to experience a diverse range of curriculum areas through a variety of teaching methods and learning experiences. Our Forest School area is a particular example of this, pupils are provided the opportunity to learn new skills in a fantastic outdoor classroom, toasting marshmallows on an open fire is a particularly popular activity!

As a school we see the value of parental involvement in the learning of children and offer a growing range of activities for parents and pupils to work together both in the school and at home. We are keen to expand our working relationships with parents and the local community and welcome any ideas you may have to develop this area further.

As a parent of two pupils at the school, I am confident that Saltney Ferry C.P school offers children a positive start to their education and sets them on track for a successful future. We hope that this website provides you with an insight in to our school. If you are considering sending your child to Saltney Ferry school we would very much welcome you to visit us, for you to see firsthand what a great place it is for your child to learn.

Warm regards

What is a Governor?

A governor is someone who:

  • is a volunteer;
  • cares about teaching, learning and children;
  • represents those people with a key interest in the school, including parents, staff, the community and the local authority;
  • is part of a team which accepts responsibility for everything a school does;
  • has time to commit to meetings and other occasions when needed;
  • is willing to learn;
  • is able to act as a critical friend who supports the school but also challenges and asks questions about how the school works and the standards it achieves;
  • acts as a link between parents, the local community, the local authority and the school.

Meet the team

Saltney Ferry’s current Governing body consists of a mix of experienced and new governors with varied skill sets and a shared goal to do the best for the pupils of our school.

As governors we are actively involved in school life whether that be by supporting Forest School, reading with pupils, painting, supporting Friends of Saltney Ferry and much more. We want you to know who we are and what we do as governors, as well as want we to achieve.

We want parents, carers and pupils to know who we are so that we can hear from you, we want to hear your ideas for improving the school and also about things that may not be quite right. Please share your thoughts with us – working together, we shall all succeed!
